Band Wagon Fans. I absolutely despise all bandwagon fans. Living in Seattle (about as far as you can get from the East Coast) you see all sorts of people wearing Red Sox and Yankees caps. When I ask those people if they have ever been to the East Coast, the answer I usually get is no. Then, when I ask them who plays on the team, 50% of the time I can only get one or two names. Watching these people just irritate me to no extent. Attending a Mariners game in Seattle against the Yankees, the horrible NY apparel outnumbers the Mariners gear 3:1. Just because the Yankees drop 200+ million a year on payroll and in years past have had a great streak gets people who know nothing about baseball swearing up and down that they are the biggest Yankee fans on the face of the planet.
It does not stop at baseball either.
Football: Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams and now Patriots stuff.
NASCAR: Jeff “Gay” Gordon
Hockey: Detroit Redwings
College Football: Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame and now USC
Out of those, the worst has to be the arrogant wanna-be Yankees fans with the Boston fans coming right behind them. Sure Boston has some history with hard luck and the fans do deserve “some” bragging rights, but when it reaches to the West Coast and the crisp brand new Boston caps start emerging with people saying they have been fans forever is STUPID. Ask them who the famous first baseman for Boston was in the 1986 World Series and they don’t have a clue!
Don’t be a bandwagon fan, if you are, at least know something about the team to back up your latest “fashion” choice.
Yankees Suck and George Steinbrenner is the devil.
